Learn what happens before the audience takes their seats
Our Backstage School is a weekly, term-time class in set design and construction, prop making, costume design and stage management. Perfect for those kids who want to be involved in theatre without having to perform; these classes promote teamwork and communication, as well as teaching a huge range of new skills required for working backstage.
7 – 11 yrs: 5 – 6pm
£45 per half term
11 – 18 yrs: 6 – 7:30pm
£60 per half term
The workshop where the classes are held is specifically set up for young people in mind. Workplace safety plays a big role in our classes as the pupils will learn how different machinery and equipment works, how to use it safely and how to protect yourself from injury. For example, during a set building term members will be taught how to build full-scale set pieces, how to fire proof them and finally paint them ready for a production using all the equipment and workshop tools required (power tools reserved for older class only).
Classes run on a Monday and Wednesday evening.
We are located on the same estate as Buxtons Lawnmower shop on the A34 between Cannock and Stafford.
The postcode for a sat nav is ST19 5RP.
As you pull on to the estate from the A34, immediately via right (signposted “Coppice House”), go past the large gate and pull into the first opening on the right.
You will be able to drop off and pick up on the area outside outside. Please be mindful of other drivers turning in the area.
